How we work

Take a few minutes and get to know our policies, and better understand how our design process works. We've recently updated our policies for 2015, so give them a quick read, even if you've worked with us in the past.

We have these policies in place to ensure that you receive a high quality product, and that our designers have enough time to manage all of the projects that come through the GC. We understand that sometimes you might be in a bind, which is why we've created a "3 strikes" policy. Should a client not comply with our policies, they'll be given a strike. After 3 strikes the Graphics Center will not accept any further projects from that client for the rest of the semester. This gives you a little leeway if you find yourself in a difficult position, while also making sure that we can run an efficient, effective design firm.

1

Communication is key

The designer will communicate with only one primary contact per project. If you foresee needing approvals or input from any other members of your team or from superiors, please check in with these individuals early in the process, keeping mind that we'll only accept feedback and direction from you.

2

Plan your project

We'll only create the collateral that were requested when the project was originially submitted. If you need supplementary materials that you didn't already request, please let us know as soon as possible.

3

Timeframes and deadlines

We require eight working days to produce the first project proof. If changes are necessary, we allow up to two rounds of design edits and one additional text revision before the design is considered final. Design edits allow us to work together to make changes regarding the concept, colors, typography, and other details. The text revision edit allows you to make any last minute changes to dates, times, and locations, as well as double checking for spelling and typos. It's the responsibility of the client to catch any errors, spelling or otherwise, before signing off on the project.

4

Check your email

On a similar note, we can only complete your project within the deadline if you're prompt in your responses to questions and project proofs. Ideally, we ask that clients respond within 48 hours.

5

Project completion

After your two design proofs and final copy revision are complete, your design or project is considered final. Once finalized, you'll need to visit GC's office to sign a Final Proof Contract, indicating the completion of the project. Upon signing, you'll receive a physical copy of your files for printing.

Graphics Center is not responsible for the posting or distribution of marketing materials on the University of San Francisco campus.
